THE WORK · FIELD NOTE 04

Start with what feels familiar.

You do not need to arrive with the right label. Begin with the experience you recognize; we can find language for the rest together.

OPEN WHAT RESONATES

Not categories.
Points of recognition.

FIELD NOTE · 01When your mind won’t clock out

The replaying. The rehearsing. The second-guessing after a conversation ended hours ago.

You may understand that the worry is disproportionate and still feel unable to step out of it. We can slow the loop down, listen for what it is trying to prevent, and build a steadier relationship with uncertainty—without asking you to simply ‘stop overthinking.’

FIELD NOTE · 02When you feel far from yourself

You’re functioning. You’re showing up. And somehow, you don’t feel entirely present in your own life.

Disconnection can look quiet: going through the motions, losing access to what you want, or feeling numb where you expected to feel something. Therapy can help you notice what created the distance and begin returning to yourself without forcing a version of ‘better.’

FIELD NOTE · 03When holding it all gets heavy

Being capable may be one of your strengths. It may also be the role you have never been allowed to put down.

When competence becomes compulsory, rest can feel undeserved and needing anyone can feel dangerous. We’ll make room for the exhaustion underneath the performance—and for ways of living that do not depend on you carrying everything alone.

FIELD NOTE · 04When closeness gets complicated

You want connection. Then something in you braces, overreaches, disappears, or works overtime to keep it.

Relationships often touch the oldest places in us. Together, we can notice the protections that enter the room, understand what they learned to expect, and practice staying connected without abandoning yourself in the process.

FIELD NOTE · 05When your life no longer quite fits

Sometimes nothing is obviously wrong—and yet the life that once made sense has begun to feel too small.

Change can arrive as grief, restlessness, relief, fear, or all four at once. Therapy offers a place to hear the part of you asking for something different, without rushing to dismantle your life or talk yourself out of what you know.

FIELD NOTE · 06When an old way keeps taking over

Insight is real. So is the frustration of understanding a pattern and finding yourself inside it again.

Patterns rarely persist because you have failed to learn the lesson. They persist because some part of you still believes they are necessary. We’ll get curious about what the pattern protects, what it costs now, and what could gradually take its place.

AN IMPORTANT DISTINCTION

You are more than the thing that brought you here.

A diagnosis can be useful information. It is not a full description of a person. Our work will make room for your history, your relationships, your nervous system, your strengths, your contradictions—and the context in which your ways of coping first made sense.

NO PERFECT STARTING POINT REQUIRED

If all you know is that something needs to change, that is enough.
